We, at the Society of Construction Law, Malaysia (SCL MALAYSIA) are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy outlines our commitment by detailing our practice in respect of the collection and processing of such information by SCL MALAYSIA as the data controller of such information. This policy also indicates your rights pertaining to such information.

Personal information that we collect and process may include (whether this information was provided to the SCL MALAYSIA by you, or by third parties on your behalf):
i. basic information such as your name, organisation, position, gender, date of birth and contract information such as your mailing address(es), e-mail address(es) and contact number(s);
ii. financial information provided to the SCL MALAYSIA with in the course of making payment(s);
iii. technical information such as that of your visits to our website and/or communications sent to you electronically;
iv. other information provided to the SCL MALAYSIA in the course of attending our events and business processes and membership-based services;
v. any personal information provided to the SCL MALAYSIA in the course of provision of our services that may include arbitration, adjudication, mediation or any other dispute we administer;
vi. any information provided to us in the course of application for jobs or internships at the SCL MALAYSIA.

3.1. We may use your information in the course of provision of our services to you or others; to notify you about changes to our services; to promote our services including sending the SCL MALAYSIA’s publications, events details and updates; to provide or improve our website including auditing and monitoring use thereof; to fulfil our legal, regulatory and risk management obligations including establishing, exercising or defending legal claims; or for recruitment purposes.

4.1. Your information may be retained only so far as it is reasonably necessary for the business purposes of the SCL MALAYSIA and the provision of services, the period of which may vary according to the class of information, taking into account the legal and regulatory stipulations, statutory limitation periods and good practice.

6.1. Information that we collect from you may be transferred to and stored anywhere, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA), and may be processed by personnel anywhere, including outside the EEA who may either work for us, our suppliers, subsidiaries, or any other entities the SCL MALAYSIA may have an interest in. Amongst other things, these personnel may be engaged in fulfilling your requests, processing your payment details or providing support services. By providing the SCL MALAYSIA with your personal information, you consent to this transfer, storage or processing. The SCL MALAYSIA will take all reasonable steps necessary in order to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in compliance with this Privacy Policy.
6.2. Payments made to the SCL MALAYSIA online will be processed via a third-party payment service provider. Please refer to the separate terms and conditions of the said provider for further terms, including that of your personal data provided to them, that may also apply to you for use of that payment service.
6.3. Once the SCL MALAYSIA is in receipt of your personal information, the SCL MALAYSIA uses strict procedures and security features to try preventing unauthorised access. However, despite the SCL MALAYSIA’s best efforts to protect your personal information, the transmission of information via the internet may not always be completely secure.
